Belgium 2015: A Brief Moment of Solitude

Well I suppose I've set a new record. How long has it been, what, 9 months? Since my last post. Oh well. I'd actually thought of giving up on this blog- it's been quite a hectic year. Anyway- now that I have the time, here goes. Rewind back to the Summer of 2015, sometime in July or August.

CNY 2015, Denmark & Sweden: Herring is Evil, and Danish Curry is a Lie (Part 2)

Well I'm lost. Where was I now? Somewhere in Sweden. Nowhere near Ikea, though signs of their influence could be seen everywhere. When was this? Not something I should ask now, should I? The skin-level answer is late February, 2015. The true answer to that question, though, is "it's been two months since then so you had better wrap this up without wasting too much time on pointless drivel trying to distract whoever is reading this from realizing that this post is really really late..." Where was I again? Oh yes, Day 5. Let's get this wrapped up before May, then. Time for some closure. Continuing with the random heart motif from Part 1:

Marginally (well mostly) unrelated title: Would you bite down on a rancid steak just to see what happens?

I don't normally post personal stuff here, besides travelogues and random untraceable thoughts, but this one was too good to pass up. Good, in this case, being relative- it's good (for myself) because I didn't make any foolish moves, though if you're looking for an epic tale of betrayal, revenge, and last minute weapon upgrades- you'd be better off reading a random page on Uncyclopedia. At the very least, this post should be more entertaining than the Wikipedia article on lichen- unless of course you happen to be a budding ethnolichenologist.

CNY 2015, Denmark & Sweden: Herring is Evil, and Danish Curry is a Lie (Part 1)

We'd run into trouble before even getting there. First of all I had some reservations about the choice of flights- one that would require us to fly to Singapore first, followed by a 15 hour flight to Copenhagen, with one day lost in the process. I had trouble with the booking itself too- with the bank sending it's the verification password too late to be of any use. One call to customer service rewarded us with a ridiculous response- 'go ask Singapore Airlines', which I rubbished immediately. A second call to someone with more sense got us a more helpful answer- 'we're having some issues with our server, please try again'. It worked this time, but the delay cost us an extra three-k, and we lost our choice of seats. Our choice destination worried me greatly too- Denmark. I'd have preferred to go to France- we initially planned on going  to both countries, but that plan got shelved along the way due to lack of time, even before the terrorist attacks in Paris (Charlie Hebdo, and another shooting elsewhere). Don't get me wrong- I have nothing against Denmark or Danes- it's just that I know next to nothing about Danes. Or did I mean Dutch? No, "Danes" is correct. Isn't that plural? Do you say "she's a Dane", or "she's Danish"? I'll ask one when I meet one.

On Dated Men, Lucid Ladies, and Asinine Alliteration: The November Man, Lucy, and John Wick

I have better things to do than waste time mashing out a review on a movie that didn't really keep me glued to the screen throughout- at this point in time I should actually be feverishly googling places to visit in Denmark, where I'll be leading a group of 6 other demanding personages on a relatively sedate romp across Scandinavian soil. Then again I did survive a terrible fever which caused me to take my first medical leave in two years, so I guess I should cut myself some slack and distract myself from what's important by focusing on my now-silly, almost forgotten, once lofty and important oath to churn out a post on at least something, anything, once a month. So hey- I've wasted spent some time so far on (frankly speaking) mostly worthless media recently, so I might as well make the most of it, eh? Spoilers (may) abound!

CNY 2014, Budapest: Nicer in Summer, perhaps?

This post won't be too long. I should probably have included it into the last post (on Salzburg), since although our trip to Budapest (in Hungary) was just a day trip, looking back at the photos I took, I have a gut feeling that I won't have that much to say. We did not spend as much time in Budapest as we did in Salzburg, anyway. For those of you who are familiar with my blogging and have noticed (from the year in the title) that this post is horribly overdue. I managed to finish off the Salzburg post on New Year's Eve, but gave up on putting out this post within 2014 (and yes, I spent eve at home typing- fun, no?). Without further ado, here's Budapest.
